Song of Life United Methodist Church draws its mission from the source of the Christian church, we look to Jesus for how to live and serve as disciples in today’s world. In the Gospel of Matthew Jesus described the mission of the church in what we call “The Great Commission”:
“Go, and make disciples of all nations,
baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.
And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Here at Song of Life United Methodist Church, we have adopted as our mission a guiding statement that sums up to us what it would mean to “go and make disciples.” At Song of Life our mission is:
People living in faith everyday.
Everything we do at Song of Life seeks to provide people a safe place to learn about Jesus Christ, as well as what it means to live as a disciple in their daily lives. We seek to empower people to go into the world after the example of Christ, to make a difference in Jesus’ name.
As we seek to help people live in faith everyday, Song of Life has developed a vision statement that guides our ministries and life together. Our vision is:
Centered in worship, the people of Song of Life
share Jesus with those they meet;
care about each other in a community of love;
grow as disciples of Jesus Christ; and
go into the world in service.
These five words (worship, share, care, grow, and go) guide all we do in our congregation and LIFE groups.
